So what is Avid ScriptSync® ?
ScriptSync is a wonderful option inside Avid Media Composer. Producers and Directors love it because it shaves weeks off of the edit. Yes, WEEKS!
The software reads your script and associates the text phonetically to all the spoken dialog within your footage. Your project's editor will be able to see your script right inside the AVID editing system, click on any line of text in the script and instantly see the corresponding video!
Incorporating ScriptSync into the edit process on features and short films:
- Increases efficiency dramatically
- Allows editor to work more trusted in unsupervised situations
- Increases the editor's awareness of quality takes within a scene
- Decreases miscommunications between producer, editor and assistant
- Decreases the chance of losing shots due to general post-production chaos
- Increases the organization of the project
Here's the Process:
1. Have a script you've made in Word, Final Draft, or whatever
2. Reformat it for ScriptSync
3. Import it into Avid Media Composer
4. Drag media onto the script and hit "ScriptSync"

What I do:
$2.00 /page
Initial reformatting of your entire script for the ScriptSync® process. There is absolutely no change to your content, just to the physical layout of the text within your script.
The average screenplay I receive for ScriptSync formatting is between 100 and 120 pages, but this price also applies to shorts, transcripts of interviews for documentaries, and television programs.
Cost effectiveness:
At $2.00/page, if your script is 100 pages that's $200. Would you pay $200 to shave three weeks off your edit?
